Vice City controls
The original 2003 PC release supports WASD as well as the arrow keys. Use the tables below for its keyboard layout; the Definitive Edition, phone apps and browser ports need their own control settings.

This is a documentation check, not a new gameplay test. The original PC manual and the reVC default-control implementation inform the keyboard reference. Rockstar documents the older mobile app separately. Quenq's gamepad and touch support remains a developer claim, not a tested device list.

Right Ctrl is the jump alternative; Left Ctrl is attack. Do not confuse them. Rebinding or a mod can change this table. In the original PC game, open Options, Controller Setup and Redefine Controls to inspect the bindings actually saved on your machine.
Gamepads and the Definitive Edition
Do not translate the keyboard table into console buttons by position. Original PS2/Xbox layouts, legacy PC joystick controls and modern Definitive Edition layouts are different. Use your edition's pause-menu control display and controller preset. Rockstar recommends Classic controls for joysticks/gamepads in the original PC game; that legacy advice is not a modern controller compatibility guarantee.
Official mobile app: touch layout
For the 10th Anniversary app, Rockstar documents Home icon > Options > View Controls. Adjust On Foot Controls and Adjust Driving Controls let you drag icons and double-tap to resize them. The running jump uses a double tap on Run. These instructions describe that older mobile app, not an assumed layout for every Definitive Edition build.
Browser keyboard, controller and touch checks
- If keys scroll the web page instead of moving Tommy, click inside the game canvas and try again. This is a focus check, not a verified Quenq-specific fix.
- Open the game's Options and inspect the bindings. The tables above are a starting reference, not a tested browser-port mapping.
- Quenq advertises USB/Bluetooth gamepads and touch controls; it recommends landscape and fullscreen on mobile. Check movement and braking before starting a mission.
- If movement or mission physics behave strangely, Quenq's own FAQ recommends a 30 FPS limit, not an unlimited frame rate.
For a blank canvas rather than a key problem, see browser troubleshooting. For supported official phone apps, use mobile versions. No phone or controller gameplay test was performed for this controls update.
Questions
Does the original PC game use WASD?
Yes. WASD and the arrow keys are both documented movement bindings. The PC release was in 2003; the 2002 release was on PS2. Your saved custom bindings can override the defaults.
Can I use a controller in the browser?
Quenq advertises Xbox and PlayStation gamepads over USB or Bluetooth. That is the site's compatibility claim, not a guarantee for every controller, browser or phone. Check whether its menu responds before relying on it for a mission.
Why does Tommy move when I am not pressing a key?
For the original PC game, Rockstar suggests disconnecting an unused joystick or gamepad and checking its configuration. This is different from a browser page that has not captured keyboard focus.
