History

Did Vice City ever have online play?

The 2002 game did not ship with internet multiplayer. Later projects reused the name, and they are not the same product.

I lined the dates up from Wikipedia, Rockstar, Eurogamer, and XDA before writing this page. The only date I treat as a store fact for the new game is the 19 November 2026 date on PlayStation’s GTA VI page.

That a browser port seen working on one day will stay up. Recheck updates.

Return to the name map or read how GTA VI uses Vice City as a place, not as this 2002 mode.

Questions

Was a 2005 online mode confirmed?

No Rockstar release notes confirm a 2005 Vice City online mode. Treat that claim as a rumor unless a primary source appears.

When did the browser version get taken down?

XDA's December 2025 article reports a Take-Two DMCA. It was published on 22 December, with the DMCA update marked 26 December at 20:12 EST; neither establishes the exact removal date. On 24 October 2026 the Vice City page on dos.zone returned 404.
