Not legal advice

Browser Vice City and the law

This page quotes public documents and says what they do not settle. It is not legal advice and it does not clear any third-party port.

By GTA Vice City Online Editorial Desk · Method and limits

I read Take-Two’s terms page and Rockstar’s legal page, then the Eurogamer reports on the reVC takedowns, then XDA’s DOS Zone story. I can tell you what those pages say. I cannot tell you that a given browser is lawful for you.

The public record

Not seeing an authorization statement is not proof that no authorization exists. A DMCA notice or removed page is not a court judgment on every port or every user's conduct. This page reports sources and licensing uncertainty; it does not make a jurisdiction-specific legal determination.

If you need a legal answer for a business or a school, ask a lawyer. A guide site cannot clear a port, and it should not tell you to upload game files to a stranger’s website.

Questions

Did Take-Two send a notice about a browser version?

XDA reports a DMCA notice against the DOS Zone browser version in a 26 December 2025 update to its 22 December article. Those publication dates do not establish the exact removal date. The Vice City page there later returned 404.

Does owning the game make a browser port fine?

Owning a copy is not the same as a published license for a web port. Take-Two’s terms restrict reverse engineering and derivative works. Whether a specific port breaches them is a legal question this site does not decide.
